Chelsea are preparing to withdraw from the European Super League and, according to the BBC, Manchester City already have done.
As was reported earlier Tuesday, both clubs had doubts about the breakaway competition which has been widely criticised since plans were announced Sunday.
Chelsea fans gathered outside Stamford Bridge on Tuesday - around 1,000 - to protest the club’s involvement in the tournament.
Chelsea said that they were preparing documents to withdraw and Man City quickly followed suit.
Manchester United’s Ed Woodward has stepped down as executive vice-chairman as a result, as he was one of the driving figures behind the scheme to be chaired by Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez.
