Spain captain Sergio Ramos struck from the spot as they thrashed Sweden to maintain their 100 per cent record at the top of Euro 2020 qualifying group F.

The skipper, on home soil at the Santiago Bernabeu, then gave Alvaro Morata the chance to score the second by handing over the bar when they won another penalty.

David de Gea was dropped for Kepa Arrizabalaga but it was Sweden’s stopper Robin Olsen who was the busier.

After good saves to keep La Roja at bay in the first half, Ramos tucked home in the 64th minute from the penalty spot when Sebastian Larsson handled a Marco Asensio cross.

Morata drilled in the second after being fouled in the area, when debutant Mikel Oyarzabal curled in the third to seal victory for Spain.

Luis Enrique is still absent because of a family matter but the national team keeps on rolling.

"It was a really nice touch, I didn’t even ask him because he always wants to score," said Morata after Ramos gave him the ball for the second penalty.

"It was a lovely gesture that I’ll always be grateful to him for. When you don’t even ask and he gives you the ball, it's twice as nice. He knows what I think of him."
