Shakhtar 2-0 Real Madrid: Zidane freezes in Kiev

It was a cold night and a bad one for Los Blancos fans as their team went down

Real Madrid’s bad form continues. They lost 2-0 in Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk and are at risk of an early Champions League group stage elimination.

Unlike in the first game against Shakhtar, they didn’t start badly. Instead they were the better team, hitting the post and having the better openings, albeit none of them clear-cut.

The 13-time European champions are going to be left relying on help from elsewhere in their final game after goals from Dentinho and Solomon in the second half gave Shakhtar an impressive victory.

Ferland Mendy and Raphael Varane’s French connection failed for the opener with Dentinho stealing in to fire home.

Then nobody robbed Solomon as he scored a solo goal, running from his own half before finishing well.
