Real Madrid got back to winning ways in La Liga on Saturday with a 1-0 victory against Sevilla at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Bono's second-half own goal was the difference between the two sides in a cagey affair.

The win, after back-to-back defeats against Alaves and Shakhtar Donetsk, moves Madrid up to third in the table.

Zinedine Zidane is still without the injured Sergio Ramos but Casemiro returned to the side in midfield against Sevilla.

In a game of few real chances, it was fitting that it was settled by an own goal.

Vinicius Jr. got a touch on Ferland Mendy's cross but his shot was heading wide until Bono fumbled it over his own line.

Sevilla twice came close to equalising via bicycle kicks, with Thibaut Courtois saving acrobatic efforts from Luuk de Jong and Lucas Ocampos.

Suso also shot just off target from the edge of the box after some fine footwork as the home side sought an equaliser.

Madrid could have killed the game off on the counter-attack late on but were too frivolous in possession.

However, it didn't matter in the end as Zidane's side held on to an important three points at the start of a testing week.

Next up is Borussia Monchengladbach, with Champions League qualification on the line, and then they host Atletico Madrid in La Liga next weekend.
