Roma 0-2 Real Madrid: Solari's side gifted top spot in the group

Two gifts allowed Real Madrid to leave Roma with a 2-0 win in the Champions League and top spot in the group confirmed. 

Both teams qualified for the last 16 before kick off courtesy of CSKA Moscow's loss to Viktoria Plzen earlier in the day. 

Roma were the better of the side in the first half and created a number of chances against a Madrid side humiliated by Eibar in LaLiga at the weekend. 

Turkish forward Cengiz Under was guilty of one of the misses of the season in the first half, which ended goalless. 

The home side were made to pay for their misses after the break as Gareth Bale helped Madrid wrap up the three points in the Italian capital. 

 

The Welshman took advantage of a gift from Olsen and Fazio to make it 1-0 and and Lucas Vazquez doubled Madrid's lead after good work from Bale and Karim Benzema.
