Santiago Solari left Balaidos under the watchful eye of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Madrid did not put in a stunning performance but deserved to win against Celta, which they did, 4-2, Solari's fourth win in four games as interim coach. On Monday he is set to become the full-time coach, because nobody can complain about the results he's delivered.

Okay Yokuslu hit the post for Celta before Karim Benzema broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute with a fine goal, after Luka Modric's pass. Benzema forced the second goal which flew in off Gustavo Cabral, who was later sent off.

Hugo Mallo pulled a goal back for Celta with a fine volley but he was let down by team-mate David Junca, who committed a stupid foul on Alvaro Odriozola which led to a penalty.

Sergio Ramos pulled off another Panenka and Dani Ceballos added a fourth with a powerful screamer, before Brais Mendez earned a consolation in stoppage time.

The only downside for Madrid was losing three defensive players - Casemiro, Reguilon and Nacho - to injuries, when their back-line is already hit in that regard.
