Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe is one of the players Real Madrid would like to sign this summer. And president Florentino Perez has broken his silence on the teenage starlet after being re-elected as the club's president for a fifth term.

Speaking to Onda Cero, he said: "I've seen Mbappe play a little, he's 18, has good qualities and is a very good player, but for the moment he’s a Monaco player.

"I don’t know why people says he was born to play for Madrid… I’ll tell you if he was born to play for Madrid or not! I am sure he will be one of the greats and we are following him.

"[Coach Zinedine] Zidane’s liked him a lot for a while, but it’s not true we were close to signing him [a few years ago] because he still hadn’t turned 16."

But Perez says there have not been any offers made for the France international of for Milan goalkeeper Donnarumma, who will not extend his contract with the Serie A club.

"I've just been re-elected and we've not spoken with anyone. We've not made offers for Mbappe or for Donnarumma," Perez added.

"First of all I will have to meet with Zidane and after that we will talk. Zizou knows a lot about football. Before he was a good advisor, because he can spot good players -- Varane was one of his.

"[Zidane] has an important role in the formation of the squad and the signgings. We're relaxed. Summer's very long. There's time until the end of August and we're specialists at signing on the last day, remember Modric and Bale? Everyone wants to come to Real Madrid..."
