Julen Lopetegui’s nightmare continues. Real Madrid were beaten by Levante at home ,suffering their fourth loss in five games, as well as setting a record for the longest goal drought in their history.

Jose Luis Morales and Roger Marti, from the spot, netted two goals in the first 13 minutes to send Levante ahead at a stunned Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid had gone 482 minutes without scoring before Marcelo blazed an effort home in the 72nd minute, but even though it ended their new record goal drought, it was not enough to see them get anything from the game.

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Oier Olazabal made several good saves and Madrid hit the woodwork three times - through Mariano, Casemiro and Benzema - but they could not win and the pressure continues to mount on the former Spain coach.

VAR ruled out goals from Marco Asensio and later Mariano, with Olazabal tipping away Gareth Bale’s free-kick at full stretch.
