Real Madrid dropped two points at home against Valladolid thanks to Sergi Guardiola’s equaliser in the 88th minute on Saturday.
Guardiola, who once signed for Barcelona and was let go a few hours later because tweets of his insulting Catalonia were discovered, slotted through Thibaut Courtois’s legs to level the game.
Madrid dominated the game but found it hard to break through, with the closest they came to scoring before Karim Benzema’s brilliant 82nd minute goal a Luka Jovic header against the crossbar.
James Rodriguez started for the first time in two years, Gareth Bale played too, as Madrid picked a line-up which could have been one from 2016, were it not for the presence of Courtois.
