Gareth Bale scored twice as Real Madrid eased to a 3-0 win against Las Palmas on Saturday despite making a number of changes.
Karim Benzema was also on target as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos were left in Madrid ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match against Juventus.
Madrid took the lead in the first half when Bale sprung the Las Palmas offside trap to latch onto Luka Modric’s through ball.
The Wales forward, who was in China with his country during the international break, still had a lot to do but did well to race into the area and fire home from a tight ankle.
Benzema doubled Madrid’s lead before the break when he scored from the penalty spot after Lucas Vazquez had been fouled.
Bale won Madrid’s second penalty of the night in the second half and picked himself up to score from 12 yards.
The three points moved Zinedine Zidane’s side to within one of Atletico Madrid in second place, with Diego Simeone’s men playing Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.
