In a new book, Messi vs Ronaldo, the authors Jonathan Clegg and Joshua Robinson claim that Florentino Perez wanted to move Real Madrid from the Bernabeu to a theme park called Real Madrid land.
Florentino even met with Disney directors in the 2017-18 season but the project failed in the end and they decided to reform and expand the stadium instead.
The authors of the book explain that they had even started to design a Zinedine Zidane-themed rollercoaster, based on his volley in the 2002 Champions League final.

Sources explain that Florentino, conscious that the team had to generate more money to compete with clubs like PSG or City, dismissed concerns that some that rival clubs could watch the team training at the centre of the theme park. "They're going to see it anyway," said the Real Madrid president.
