Real Madrid president Florention Perez was a guest on El Larguero on Cadena Ser on Thursday. One of the questions put to him was about Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Perez explained that it's currently very difficult to sign a player like Messi, but in his first spell as Madrid presdient, when he made a habiy of 'Galactico' signings, he would have made a move for him.
"In my first spell as president, I probably would have [tried to sign Messi]," Perez said.
"Not now. It’s really difficult. He’s ingrained at the club [Barcelona] after so many years playing there. But if Messi had existed when I was first president, he’s the type of player we would have signed."
Messi is out of contract next summer and has not yet signed his new terms with the club.
