Conte complains: Mendy fouled Achraf before Madrid's first goal

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte complained that there was a foul in the build-up to Real Madrid's first goal as the Italian side were beaten 3-2 in the Spanish capital in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Ex-Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi's backpass was seized on by Karim Benzema to open the scoring, although Conte pointed out that Mendy had fouled Hakimi, forcing the mistake.

"The backpass? There was a foul by Mendy on Achraf and then in the Ramos goal we have to mark with more force," Conte said after the game.

"Those details change the game, but I am satisfied with the mentality we played with. We are growing. For good or for bad, this is my Inter. We have to grow, but I don't know how many teams have played like this in Madrid.

"The goals were two gifts. We have to improve, but we scored twice and we had chances to go 3-2 up ourselves."

The win was Madrid's first in Europe this season and moved them off the bottom of the group, leaving Inter there, who are winless after three matches.
