Real Madrid bounced back from their midweek defeat with a hard fought 2-1 win away at Alaves on Saturday.
Zinedine Zidane was without a number of players due to injuries for the game, but still decided to make changes, with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale left on the bench.
It was one of the players who came into the side who wrote the headlines, Dani Ceballos, a summer signing from Real Betis.
The midfielder gave Madrid a 10th minute lead and scored their second, too, just before half time.
Before Ceballos’ second goal, though, Alaves had equalised through captain Manu Garcia.
It was the Basque side’s first goal of the season but their wait goes on for their first points.
They came close to an equaliser in the second half at Mendizorroza, twice hitting the woodwork.
However, Madrid had chances to extend their lead as well and would have felt aggrieved if they had lost more points.
Zidane’s side are now with four points of early leaders Barcelona, who can restore their seven point lead in Saturday’s late game at Girona.
