Manchester City close in on signing of Valencia winger Ferran Torres

The Spanish international will become Pep Guardiola's latest addition to the City squad

Manchester City are closing in on their first signing of the summer after closing an agreement with Valencia for the signing of young winger Ferran Torres.

City will pay an initial €23 million for the Spain international, with an additional €13m due in performance-related add-ons further down the line.

Pep Guardiola and City targetted Torres as a replacement for Leroy Sane, who is joining Bayern Munich.

Sporting director Txiki Begiristain has managed to land the Valencia man for a relatively cheap fee due to his contract situation.

Torres, 20, had just one year remaining on his deal at Valencia and had made it clear he was not going to extend his contract with the club.

Los Che, therefore, were forced to accept a reduced price, despite the fact he has a €100m release clause, or risk losing him for free next summer.
