Johann Berg Gudmundsson struck late on for Burnley as they earned a point at Turf Moor against Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's side had taken a first-half lead through Danilo, who curled home from the edge of the box after a short corner.

City had the best of the first half but could have been pegged back by the break if Ederson hadn't made a good save from the unmarked Ben Mee.

The runaway Premier League leaders remained in the ascendancy after the break but would be made to pay for a string of missed chances.

Raheem Sterling missed the best of them, firing wide from a couple of yards with the goal at his mercy.

Burnley took confidence from that and reasserted themselves in the game, with Ederson producing a stunning save to deny Aaron Lennon on his full debut.

However, the goalkeeper could do nothing about Gudmundsson's effort, the Iceland international getting goal side of Kyle Walker to volley home Matthew Lowton's cross.

City remain top of the league, though, and it will take a miracle for them to be caught, while Burnley are seventh.
