Barcelona striker Suarez scored the only goal of the game, making up for his misses in the last game against Egypt by slotting home from a corner when the ball fell to him.
As a result, Uruguay join Russia in qualifying out of Group A for the next round, with the two sides to meet to decide who tops the group.
However, it's goodbye for Saudi Arabia, who are eliminated after the loss, as are Egypt, who were beaten by Russia on Tuesday.
