The Spanish national team have planned ahead for the Russia World Cup. They play a friendly in Saint Petersburg against hosts Russia but they will be based far from there. In June they will set up base in the south of the country, at the academy of Krasnodar.
Spain will work in a warm city which is easy for the trips. Moscow, the capital, is less than two hours by flight and the cities furthest away which host games are three hours.
A priority for the staff team led by Julen Lopetegui was the training pitches, which had to be in the same complex as the hotel. In 2016, France, SPain had to go by bus to the training sessions and they do not want to repeat that experience.

Everything for the team to feel very comfortable. They do not want to repeat their experience in Curitiba either, where a bad base for the 2014 World Cup ended up having a bad influence on the side.
