Mendy joins Lorient after he's cleared of rape and attempted rape charges

The former Manchester City player has a new club after over two years out of the game

Benjamin Mendy has already found a new team to continue his football career. The French international has been announced as a new player for Lorient for the next two seasons.

Mendy, 29, has not played a single minute of football for more than two years due to accusations of 10 rape offences of which he was found not guilty just this week.

Previously, he has played a key part in the Monaco side that won the Ligue 1 title in 2017. Subsequently, the left-back joined Manchester City where, firstly due to multiple injuries and then due to legal proceedings, he was barely unable to show his footballing prowess.

The French full-back will now try to rediscover his best form in his homeland with Lorient. The French club finished sixth last season and will therefore play in the Conference League.
