Levante 2-2 Valencia: Marti hits two in fair derby draw

Coke was sent off but Valencia could not take advantage and have not won this season yet

Roger Payró

Valencia twice came from behind to draw with Levante on Sunday, although they are yet to win a match in La Liga this season.

Marcelino’s men fell behind when Roger Marti stabbed home from close range after good work by Jose Morales in midfield on the break.

Denis Cheryshev equalised immediately after but Marti struck again with a low effort into the bottom corner in the 33rd minute.

Dani Parejo equalised from the penalty spot and even though Coke was sent off for the hosts, Valencia could not get a late win.

“I’m very happy, I feel good and have a lot of confidence,” said two-goal man Marti. “We went out there to the death, we went in front twice and they came back.

“That’s the path. We reacted, overall a good performance. A point against Valencia is important, considering how the game went.

“It tastes good, it’s important for us to keep growing in confidence and we must keep working.”
