Eibar 3-0 Real Madrid: Cucurella stars as Solari's side thrashed

The Barca loanee was crucial, playing a part in each of the three Eibar goals

Santiago Solari waved goodbye to his winning start as Real Madrid coach with a 3-0 thrashing at Eibar in the first game since taking over on a permanent basis.

The Argentine enjoyed four wins from four as an interim manager but was taken down a few pegs at Ipurua as the Basque minnows ran riot.

Gonzalo Escalante, Sergi Enrich and Kike Garcia’s goals handed Eibar their first ever win against Madrid, sixth, taking the hosts seventh, two points behind them.

Barcelona loanee Marc Cucurella was the real star of the show, playing a part in each of Eibar’s three goals from his advanced position as a left winger.

Kike hit the post for Eibar and Benzema had an effort cleared off the line before the hosts broke the deadlock.

They had to wait a long time for VAR to verify the goal but once it confirmed Cucurella was onside, Escalante’s strike stood.

The Barca defender crossed and although Kike’s shot was saved Escalante was there to tap in.

The second came after Cucurella robbed Alvaro Odriozola and crossed for Sergi Enrich to net, and the third saw Cucu cross for Enrich again, who flicked it on for Kike to bang in.
