Pope Francis received players and officials from Chapecoense, the Brazilian club devastated by an air crash in November last year, after the general audience in St. Peter’s Square.
The Pope met the new squad as well as some relatives of the players and directors who died in the crash and blessed some photos they had brought with them.
The club’s delegation was made up of 80 people and presented the Pope with a football in the club’s colours of white and green before posing for a commemorative photograph.
