Manuel Neuer has once again dismissed Marc-Andre ter Stegen as competition when it comes to representing Germany. In an interview with '11 Freunde', he was asked if his future with the national team was coming to an end - but Neuer didn't share those concerns. "Which coach isn't going to play his best players out on the pitch? I don't have any doubts I'm the best, even if I'm not 17 anymore."
Neuer doesn't seem to think ter Stegen, who had a fantastic season individually for Barça, or Alexander Nubel, who has been impressive for Schalke 04, should be starting ahead of him. "Whether I was number one at Bayern or for the national team, you're constantly competing. That situation hasn't changed."
The experienced stopper, who is 34 now, hasn't even considered hanging up his boots. "If football starts to feel like a chore, I'll do the same as Lahm. But at the moment it remains a pleasure to keep playing."
