Espanyol have appointed Abelardo Fernandez as head coach after sacking Pablo Machin last week.
Abelardo, formerly of Sporting Gijon and Alaves, must save the bottom of the table side, who lost to Leganes last weekend.
He is their third coach of the season after David Gallego and Machin were ousted from the role.
Despite struggling in La Liga they reached the last 32 of the Europa League where they face Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
