The Catalan side are into the last eight after beating Simeone's men

Girona are into the last eight of the Copa del Rey after drawing 3-3 at Atletico Madrid to progress on away goals after a 1-1 draw in the fitst leg.

Despite having one of the smallest budgets in La Liga, the Catalans keep on making history. This was a famous night at the Wanda.

Seydou Doumbia scored the equalising goal which took them through against the odds, netting in the 87th minute to seal a incredible draw.

Diego Simeone left Antoine Griezmann on the bench but the home side still took the lead through Nikola Kalinic in the first half.

Valery Fernandez drew Girona level on the night and in the tie before Cristhian Stuani edged Girona in front.

Angel Correa levelled the scores again and, with Girona poised to progress on away goals, Antoine Griezmann came off the bench to score, appearing to send Atleti through.

But there was to be on final twist as Doumbia, himself a substitute, netted the equaliser which sent Girona through and Simeone's men out.
