The English champions will take on the Zinedine Zidane's men over two legs

Real Madrid will take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the Champions League round-of-16 in the New Year.

Zinedine Zidane's side, who reached the knockout stages as runners-up having finished second to Paris Saint-Germain in Group A, will play the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

City, who have never won the European Cup, will have the benefit of the second leg at the Etihad Stadium after topping their group.

The dates have still not been finalised. The first leg, in Madrid, will be played on either Feb 18, 19, 25 or 26, while the second leg, in Manchester, will take place on either March 10, 11, 17 or 18.

In any case, the league fixture between Real Madrid and Barcelona will come between the two games, with the second Clasico of the league season scheduled for March 1 at the Bernabeu.
