Atletico too good for Leicester as Simeone's men march on

Atletico confirmed they are once again a serious candidate to win the Champions League after they advanced to the semi-final at the expense of Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

The Rojiblanco have now reached three of the last four semi-finals in the last four seasons and are looking to reach a third final in that same period.

Premier League champions Leicester showed plenty of hunger and heart, but that was not enough to help them produce a surprise as they drew 1-1 on the night, going out 2-1 on aggregate.

A goal from Saul Niguez half way through the half left the English side needing a miracle: three goals against this Atletico defence.

They got one back on the night but their lack of an away goal at the Vicente Calderon -- where they lost 1-0 last week -- left them with too much to do.

An improved second half performance was capped with a Jamie Vardy goal, but there were no more goals for the Foxes.

Their European adventure ends here -- and to a standing ovation from their supporters -- but Atletico's goes on.

Diego Simeone's side have only been knocked out by Real Madrid in the last four seasons and they may have to beat their city rival if they're to end their Champions League hoodoo and win the competition this year.

That's because Madrid joined them in the last four courtesy of a dodgy red card, a controversial goal and an extra-time win over Bayern Munich.
