Hoffenheim 1-2 Man City: Silva saves Pep with late winner

The former Valencia playmaker scored with three minutes to go to win it for City

David Silva scored an 87th minute winner to save Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City from another bad result after their opening day Champions League defeat by Lyon.

After just 44 seconds Isak Belfodil netted for Hoffenheim to send the German side ahead, but Sergio Aguero equalised from close range six minutes later.

Aguero and Raheem Sterling missed chances while Leroy Sane should have had a penalty when Oliver Baumann appeared to upend the winger, as the game ticked towards its conclusion poised at one goal each.

However Silva nipped in to rob Stefan Posch and fire home with three minutes to go to earn City victory.
