Now that Xavi Hernandez has confirmed he will leave football as a player at the end of the season, as SPORT said in April, he will start coaching. And from July 1, he will have the UEFA Pro license he needs to manage top flight teams in Spain.

Last April he started the course at the Spanish FA's base in Las Rozas. Getting the license needs, theoretically, a six month practice period. That is what Xavi has been doing in Qatar, working as a coach for the youth levels of his club Al Sadd.

This means that should he wish to, he will be able to coach in La Liga from the start of next season, 2019-20.
