Xavi Hernandez spoke to the media ahead of the trip to face Valencia. He said there is a plan in place to keep Pedri Gonzalez fit and healthy.

The player ended the season with many minutes in the bank last year, and it hurt him. He played in the Euros and Olympics but then missed the first half of the season with Barcelona effectively.

“We will try to make it so he is not fatigued,” said Xavi. “Pedri is very important but he needs rest too. We’ll try to look after him so he doesn’t get injured. He’s at a high level and the other day he had a great game. We have to look after him, like everyone.”
