Verratti's 'dig' at Gazzetta for publishing 'false' quotes on his future?

The PSG midfielder has effectively denied the quotes in the Italian press

It had been suggested he'd said he'd stay at PSG if they signed 'champions'

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti woke up to a surprise on Saturday as he read quotes about his future in Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The quotes were from the Italian international himself and referred to his meeting with PSG this week, claiming he said that he would only stay at the club -- and not move to Barcelona -- if they "signed champions"

Showing his surprise, Verratti has uploaded a picture of said article in Gazzetta with a number of question marks and the word 'SOS', suggesting that he needed someone to explain where the quotes had come from and, as a result, that he had not made those comments.

Verratti insisted to the PSG directors that his intention is to leave the club and sign for Barça, while PSG, more concretely their president Nasser Al Khelaifi, once again told him they will not sell him.

The soap opera, then, continues and will do so until the transfer window shuts or an agreement is reached.
