Vermaelen could be the first player to leave Barcelona this summer

The defender is close to agreeing a loan move to Besiktas

One of Barcelona's priorities this summer is to find new homes for all the players who don't have a place in Ernesto Valverde's plans.

Thomas Vermaelen is among those players as his loan spell with Serie A side Roma comes to an end and he returns to Camp Nou.

Barça have already told his agent that they plan to move the Belgian defender on and talks have been held with Besiktas -- the Catalan club know they won't get a huge fee, if one at all, but are keen to free up space on the wage bill.

Vermaelen has spoke with Premier League clubs but none have decided to sign him. Once again this season he had a number of injury problems in Italy and there are continued doubts about his fitness.

Besiktas are ready to gamble, though, and have contacted both the player and Barça. However, they're only interested in a loan with an option to buy for around five million euros depending on how many games he plays.

Another Barça player expect to see leave in June is Munir, with the club hopeful of bringing in around 15 million euros for the young forward.
