Ex-Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has spoken to ETB's 'El día de mañana' about his time at Camp Nou and what it was like to work with Leo Messi.

When asked how he reacted when he was offered the Barça job, he said "I didn't think twice about it. It was a good opportunity and an experience that I couldn't turn down. My departure? Well, I left and that's it...", he added.

During his time at the club, much was spoken about his conversations and 'reprimands' of Leo Messi and other senior players. When asked about his relationship with the players, Valverde replied "I can't talk about these things [in public], they form part of the mystery. This is how it should be. It's best that people don't know what we are like. It's best that they don't know the truth".

When asked if he would be interested in returning to management, he said "I guess so, but it would need to be something stimulating, something motivating. After leaving Barça, I needed some time away from football. I wanted to travel a bit, but that hasn't been possible with the pandemic. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next".
