Valverde: I feel very angry not to end season unbeaten

"But what makes me angry isn¿t going to give me solutions"

Jordi Gil

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was hugely disappointed by his side's 5-4 loss to Levante on Sunday.

The Catalans missed out on the chance to end the season unbeaten, beaten in the 37th game of the campaign as their 43-game streak without a loss was brought to an abrupt end.

“I feel very angry but I have to look forward because what makes me angry isn’t going to give me solutions,” Valverde said in his press conference.

“It was a surprising game, because of the result and how it came about. [Levante] are in very good form, they are very effective, they started the game really well and caused us a lot of damage on the counter-attack.”

After conceding five goals, Barca's defenders were at the centre of the post-match analysis.

Colombian Yerry Mina had started the game -- alongside Thomas Vermaelen, was taken off injured and replaced by Gerard Pique -- and Valverde defended his performance.

"You see the result, the goals conceded, and think the defence was terrible," the coach said. "But I think [Mina] showed personality in certain moments of game. I didn’t think he was bad. You have to give credit to the effectiveness of the opposition."
