Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti was on target as 10-man France beat England 3-2 in Paris on Tuesday.
In-form striker Harry Kane gave Gareth Southgate’s side the lead at the Stade de France inside the opening 10 minutes, but the hosts always looked the better side.
Tom Heaton saved Olivier Giroud’s header but Umtiti was on hand to score the rebound just after the 20 minute mark — his first for his country.
France then took the lead through Djibril Sidibe just before half-time, once again via a rebound after Heaton had saved from Barça target Ousmane Dembele.
England got back into the game after the break when Raphael Varane was sent off, giving a penalty away which Kane dispatched.
But despite being a man down, France remained the more likely side and their youthful exuberance and ambition paid off when Dembele scored a late winner.
