Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel wanted to strengthen his attack this summer and targetted a move for former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, according to Telefoot.

Finally, the Uruguayan striker signed for Atletico Madrid two weeks ago, scoring two goals and setting up another on his debut against Granada.

After Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Edinson Cavani left the club, PSG were left with Mauro Icardi as their only out and out striker.

Tuchel's idea was to bring in Suarez as competition for the Argentine after Barça coach Ronald Koeman made it clear he wasn't counting on him.

However, a deal to sign him was made impossible by the fact Barça had included PSG on a list of clubs they were unwilling to transfer Suarez to.

Tuchel has since made his discontent known about PSG's lack of signings, although the French club did make two deadline day signings in Barça's Rafinha and Everton's Moise Kean.
