Rodrygo was the main focus of the press conference given by Santos president José Carlos Peres this Wednesday in Sao Paulo.

The Santos chief confirmed Barça's interest in the Brazilian forward but ruled out any deal while the Catalan club still owe a debt in relation to Neymar.

"There's no meeting planned with Barcelona, we have a process [open] against them to do with Neymar," Perez explained. "It would be irresponsible on our part [to meet with them]."

Santos claim they are owed 14.5 million euros in total from Barça with regards to the Neymar transfer.

The Brazilian club demanded Barça paid them 4.5 million euros for a friendly between the two clubs which never happened but which was agreed as part of the Neymar deal.

Barça's general manager Pep Segura has travelled to Brazil to progress talks to sign Rodrygo, who is just 17 but has already made his Santos debut.
