Ronald Araujo has earned the right to be part of Barcelona's first-team squad for the 2020-21 season. Proof of that is that the Uruguayan defender has now been registered in La Liga for the new campaign and will have a shirt number.

The decision comes after Jean-Clair Todibo joined Benfica on a two-year loan and Barça failed to complete the signing of Eric Garcia, who will see out the final year of his contract at Manchester City after the two clubs failed to agree on a fee.

Araujo started Sunday's 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the absence of the suspended Clement Lenglet and produced a really good performance against a tough opponent.

"He played really well," coach Ronald Koeman said. "He has confidence and physically he is very song."
