However, for now the negotiations have been iced. Chelsea don’t want to reinforce a direct rival in the Champions League and they are waiting to see what happens in Barcelona’s clash with Bayern Munich next Wednesday.
The winter window does not open until January 1 and Chelsea aren’t in a hurry. Ziyech and Werner will be much more likely options if Barcelona drop into the Europa League, although Chelsea may still let Barcelona have them even if they get through. The relationships are good but there will be no new news until after the trip to Munich.
