Manchester City defender Angeliño has returned to RB Leipzig, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, helping the German side reach the Champions League semifinal.

Angeliño, 23, had been linked with a move to Barcelona but in the end has re-joined Leipzig on loan with an option for the deal to be made permanent next summer.

The Spanish left-back joined City in 2014 but has spent large parts of his career away from the club on loan at New York City FC, Girona, Mallorca and NAC Breda.

In 2018, he joined PSV Eindhoven on a permanent deal but City exercised an option to re-sign him a year later and he made 12 appearances under Pep Guardiola last season before moving to Leipzig.

He was one of the players linked with Barça this summer. However, with Jordi Alba, Junior Firpo and Juan Miranda all on the books, Barça would have to sell before they could buy and also have other priorities at the moment.
