Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been interviewed in Italy on Monday. On the show 'Pomeriggio Cinque' on Mediaset Italia, the player about both his professional and his private life.
In sporting terms, Pique was asked who should win the next Ballon d'Or and despite opting for Lionel Messi, he also picked a potential Italian winner from Juventus: goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Pique said: "It would be nice if Buffon won the award, he's won the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia and now he can win the Champions League. He deserves it for the career he's had, for this season and because it would be nice to see a goalkeeper win it after Yashin."
The Spain international also praised Messi, though, adding: "Who can win the Ballon d'Or? Messi is the best player in the world and in the history of the game. This year he will win the Golden Shoe and he deserves the Ballon d'Or as well."
