Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique says Juan Carlos Unzue, Luis Enrique's No.2 and a contender to replace him in the summer, is a "good candidate" to become the first team coach.

Even though he insisted on not talking about the vacancy at Camp Nou, Pique assured that Unzue is "capable of doing the job, he’s already spent many years here, since [Pep] Guardiola’s spell in charge and before that as a player.

"I’m sure he would be a good candidate, but it’s not up to me to choose, that’s not my job.”

Luis Enrique revealed after the recent win against Sporting Gijon that he will not continue into a fourth season as Barça boss and the speculation on who will follow him has quickly followed.

As well as Unzue, Athletic Club coach Ernesto Valverde is the other leading candidate at the moment.
