Pedri was a perfect storm of football in Turin

He is enjoying magical days for a 17 year old and proved his quality in Italy

Toni Juanmartí

Pedri's explosion has been quick. Less than 10 days ago he debuted in the Champions League. Since then he started a Clasico and again against a European giant, Juventus, in Turin. On the left this time, he linked perfectly and helped unbalance the Italian defence. It was a perfect storm of football to back the confidence that Ron Koeman has shown him.

Against Madrid, Pedri played on the right. He had a solid game but could not show his immense potential and talent. It was a different story in Turin, where he came inside onto his stronger right from the left. That helped him execute the moves he likes to do, diagonals into the centre. His fine ability to turn in either direction meant he sometimes surprised Cuadrado by going outside.

He is reminiscent of both Ineista and Pedro in his unpredictability. In Turin the stats show his fine game. 95% pass accuracy (40/42), 4/5 dribble success and seven ball recoveries. He helped in defence too and did well to stop Cuadrado.

"What Pedri did is impressive," said Koeman after the game of the former Las Palmas midfielder. He is for the future and the present.
