Pedri's efforts translate into a bananas charity contribution

The Spanish midfielder has run further than any other player at the Euros

Pedri / | sport

Ahead of the Euro 2020 final between England and Spain, Pedri leads the classification of players who have run the most in the Euros, with 76km, ahead of Jorginho (72.3) and Kalvin Phillips (67.3), who can dethrone him.

He will likely end up without this accolade but the Barcelona midfielder will have the honour of being the main donor in a charity action from Canarias Bananas, who will give 80,000 pieces of this succulent fruit to the Spanish Food Bank Federation (FESABAL) and its 54 associated banks.

The banana producers launched an initiative, in collaboration with the RFEF and Pedri, as ambassador of Plátano de Canarias, by which they pledged to donate 100 kilos of this fruit for every kilometer traveled by the international team. Luis Enrique's squad accumulated a total of 766.5 kilometers throughout the six games played in the tournament.

To this we must add an extra kilo for each follower of the Spanish team who shared the proposal on their social networks, reaching 800,000 kilos total.

Pedri was appointed Canarias Bananas ambassador for the national team at the start of the tournament and wears a banana emoji on his boots as a good luck charm.
