Barcelona B will be left without one of their summer targets after the Ecuadorian Diego Palacios turned down the club's offer in favour of a move to FC Los Angeles, who play in MLS.

The Catalan club knew it would be complicated to do a deal for Palacios but believed they were close to achieving one, with the player even expected in Barcelona on Sunday. The idea was for him to undergo a medical on Sunday and travel to TorreMirona to meet his new teammates.

However, on Monday, he will now travel to the USA. ESPN were the first to report that he had turned down Barça and SPORT have been able to confirm that he will sign with Los Angeles on a four-year deal.

One of the reasons behind the decision is the arrival of Junior Firpo. Palacios was disappointed to learn that Barça had signed another young left-back and saw it as an obstacle in reaching the first team. In addition, Los Angeles made a better financial offer.
