Borussia Dortmund have released a statement on their webpage and on social media confirming that Ousmane Dembélé is suspended until further notice.

Dembélé, who did not attend training on Thursday morning without giving an explanation, wants to join Barcelona and may have gone on strike. The German club are willing to negotiate but at an exorbitant price. The forward thinks that the €120 million demanded by Dortmund is far too high considering they only paid €14 million for him last year. They also promised him that he would be able to leave if a big club tried to sign him. A promise the German club’s board are not keeping.

Therefore, Dembélé will continue to be left out of the squad and is still trying to determine his future. Meanwhile, as the statement says, “he has the opportunity to train individually away from the squad”. “Our attention is now on the team’s preparation for the start of the Bundesliga this weekend at Wolfsburg,” the statement added. It concluded by saying “there will be no comments on this new decision”.
