Barcelona announced Patrick Kluivert as their new head of youth football on Thursday. They have been negotiating with the Dutch former Barca player and he will now take over at La Masia.

Kluivert signed a two year deal until 2021 at midday in the club offices, in the presence of Silvio Elias and Xavier Vilajoana, the other directors.

The Dutchman left the Cameroon national team where he had been working as Clarence Seedorf’s assistant.

One of his first missions is to decide what to do with the coaches in charge of each level of the youth football set up.

Barca wanted someone with charisma and a history at the club to take charge of the academy. His son Shane plays for the Infantil B side.
