Barcelona B left-back Juan Miranda has joined Schalke 04 on a two-year loan deal, the German club confirmed on Friday.

Miranda, 19, has already made his first-team debut under Ernesto Valverde but didn't have a place in Barça's squad this year so has been forced to look for minutes elsewhere at the top level.

He joins Schalke for the next two years. The Bundesliga side will not have an option to sign him when the loan concludes.

"He's one of the most talented full-backs in Spanish football at the moment," said Schalke boss David Wagner. "He's been a regular for Spain at youth level and has already debuted for Barça.

"It's an incredible signing for us. Now we will give him time to adapt to life in Germany so he can produce his best performances here with us."

Miranda will wear the No.3 shirt at Schalke after choosing the Germans over a number of other clubs.
