Barcelona are back in training but are still waiting for all their World Cup players to return to prepare for the second leg of the season.

They return to action against local rivals Espanyol on Dec. 31 with the aim of staying at the top of the table and competing until the end in the Europa League, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup.

Denmark defender Andreas Christensen will return on Wednesday, Marc Ter Stegen will do so at the end of the week and the Spanish internationals at the beginning of the next, so Xavi Hernandez is still having to rely on youngsters to complete sessions.

The good news from Monday's session was the return of Franck Kessié to group training. The midfielder was injured on Nov. 2 and, after returning to his country during the break to follow a specific recovery plan, as revealed by SPORT, he is now back n Barcelona and available for Xavi.

Xavi also summoned Arnau Casas, Héctor Fort, Unai Hernández, Dani Rodríguez, Lamine Yamal and Ángel Alarcón from the youth teams on Monday.
