FC Barcelona's interest in Memphis Depay is clearly rubbing some people the wrong way at Olympique Lyon. Their president, Jean Michel Aulas, has taken to social media to respond to reports suggesting Depay will join Barça imminently.
Aulas is known as a vocal and controversial figure when it comes to making statements. He doesn't like to "lose" when it comes to selling or buying players and the situation surrounding the club captain, Depay, is no different.
AULAS' STYLE
Whilst Rudi Garcia was open to the idea of losing Depay, albeit reluctantly, the president hasn't been so forthcoming.
For Aulas, he has a different style. He knows that Barça need to replace Luis Suarez and Depay is near the top of their wanted list.
Depay scored a hat-trick on Ligue 1's return and he shined again whilst away with Holland in the Nations League.
With Inter willing to fight hard to keep hold if Barça's first-choice target, Lautaro Martinez, rumours linking Depay with a switch to the Camp Nou are increasing.
TWEETS
The first of Aulas' tweets said: "If Memphis could have left in August, he must stay with us for the 20/21 season! Contrary to what I've read, there have been no negotiations with Barça. I don't believe Lyon are interested in letting their captain leave after the year he's had in the LFP."
And in a second tweet, he seemed much angrier. "Depay asks to leave Lyon, exit imminent! What a load of rubbish and such a defeatist attitude... Lyon have a strategy and want to have a good season."
